We are inviting applications for projects on encephalitis research. Submissions are encouraged that address any of the key actions in the recent WHO technical brief on encephalitis (https://iris.who.int/bitstream/handle/10665/380453/9789240106475-eng.pdf?sequence=1&utm_source=Encephalitis+International&utm_campaign=928d9fac30-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2024_10_07_10_25_COPY_04&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_-5f1281ea3e-561857961) in its following sections:

•    Surveillance and Prevention (see pages 19-27)
•    Research and Innovation (see pages 29-30)

Whilst all applications from Central and South American countries will be considered, those from low-to-middle-income countries in those regions are particularly welcome. We cannot fund large-scale research, but we are very keen to help international groups in these countries get started on new and clinically relevant studies. Our proposal is to provide seed funding for a small or “pilot” project which, if successful, can help secure further funding for potential larger scale work. This project should be novel to the country/region taking place and can involve external collaborations within that or neighbouring countries/regions. This can be the first step to becoming a well-established researcher.
